Why Join Boy Scouts

Scouting will allow for you to:

  • Make some of the best friends you'll ever make in your life!
  • Go on camping trips to some of the best places. Even places where the average public is not allowed!
  • Learn some very valuable skills that can help you in your future life!
  • Have experiences that you will remember for the rest of your life!
  • Remember the time you spend as a youth as the most enjoyable part of your life!

Scouting is about learning skills that you'dnever learn in any other youth group. Sure you learn how to tie knots but youalso learn First Aid, Outdoor Skills and Navigational Skills. It's all aboutlearning how to survive, not just in the woods but in the real world as well!Scouting offers over 100 different topics to learn about. They cover topicsfrom Sports, to Indian Lore, to White Water Rafting and Back Packing.

Since 1910, these principleshave been taught in an atmosphere of recreation and fun, which allow youngpeople to develop self-confidence, leadership and moral character. More andmore men, trained as Scouts, are taking their places in today's world asresponsible adult leaders. Men, who earned badges as Scouts, sit on the SupremeCourt and in the chambers of Congress. Others hold important offices in ourgovernment, business, industry, and sports. Most of the members of Congresswere Scouts, as well as most of the astronauts who have walked on the moon. Thelong list of famous Scouts includes:

The BoyScouts of America is the largest youth-orientedorganization in the United States. More than 4 million boys and leadersare currently registered in the Boy Scouts of America.

Thereare many youth organizations to choose from, such as sports, serviceclubs and educational programs. As volunteers, we salute theseorganizations for their work with young people.

The Scoutingprogram, however, goes above and beyond programs offered bytraditional youthorganizations.

Scouting providesactivities that:

  • encourage boys to try new things,
  • nurture love for the out dooors,
  • advocate service to others,
  • build self-confidence,
  • foster new friendships,
  • emphasize teamwork,
  • cultivate citizenship,
  • promote leadership skills,

And,most importantly, it's LOTS of fun!
